Library Launches Summer Reading June 10

Start Date

Chippewa River District Library is excited to announce the launch of its annual Summer Reading Club, filled with fun and educational events for the whole family. This year's program, titled "Adventure Begins at Your Library," aims to inspire children, teens, and adults to explore and go on adventures through reading. Participants can immerse themselves in new worlds and discover new stories through summer family-friendly events.

The Summer Reading Club will kick off on June 10 and run until July 31. It offers a variety of activities, events, and challenges for all ages. The program starts with a special event at Island Park on June 10, beginning at 5 p.m. Families can enjoy a family-friendly bubble dance party and meet Clifford the Big Red Dog and Nature Cat from PBS Kids. Throughout the summer, there will be story times in the park, the longest-day reading challenge, and family-friendly entertainment.

"Our summer reading program offers the perfect opportunity for families to come together and explore the wonderful world of reading," said Barbara Sanford, programming coordinator at CRDL. "We believe reading is important for children's academic success and a great way to spark imagination and create lasting memories with loved ones. With this program, we hope to make reading an adventure for our community."

The "Adventure Begins at Your Library" Summer Reading Club is free and open to the public. Participants can register for the program at the library or online at www.crdl.org. Those who complete the program will be eligible for prizes and rewards, including free books and gift cards.

Chippewa River District Library promotes literacy and makes reading enjoyable for the whole family. The Summer Reading Program is an excellent way to keep children engaged in reading during the summer break and encourage lifelong learning.

The summer reading program and events are made possible thanks to the support of our community sponsors, including Michigan Arts & Culture Council, Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission, WCMU Public Media, Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library, Barberi Law, Domino's Pizza, Doozie's Ice Cream, and Riverwood Golf. Their generosity is a testament to the strong community spirit, allowing us to provide engaging and educational activities to our community at no cost.
