Lynn Austin has yet again written a book that I just about couldn't put down (unfortunately, I did have to go to work, and I require at least some sleep!). She has a way of making you really care about her characters. Jimmy, Gisela, and Peggy's stories were all very engaging and I really wanted to see how the story is going to move forward. This novel was a split-time novel with one timeline starting in 1939 and the second starting in 1946. I really enjoy split-time novels, and usually I prefer the timelines to be further apart, but Austin did a great job of keeping things moving fluidly between story and time lines and I never felt confused. If you enjoy novels set in and around the WWII era and the split-time format, I would highly recommend this one!
