Silver in the Bone - Silver in the Bone #1 (Bracken)

Start Date

I have been fascinated by Arthurian legend since I was in around fourth grade and would get "sick" at school and would then get picked up by my Grandma. She would make me soup and we would watch the Merlin TV miniseries that came out in 1998. In no way were certain parts of that appropriate for someone that age but you know what?!?!?!?! Those are some of my favorite memories I have with her and I turned out just fine, lol. Because of all of that, and because I already have a deep love for Bracken's writing, I knew this was going to be the start of a great series.

I don't want to give any of the plot away because I think experiencing this new world filled with magic without much prior knowledge is the best and most fun way to go. It is a lot of new information but it was easy for me to keep up and get the lay of Tamsin and Cabell's land. The two have lived a very interesting life hunting down magical artifacts and taking down curses and by the end of this book, it's gotten even crazier (plz send help and therapy).

The characters themselves were all very well fleshed out and became instant favorites (orrrrr in the case of some, made me instantly suspicious). Pretty much everyone is hiding at least one secret and I honestly was only able to guess one of them (and that's after having changed my mind about what I thought several different times). The lore that has been woven into this was perfection and made me watch to go re-watch both the old mini-series that I mentioned above AND the newer Merlin series because I also loved that, too. I am already shipping Tamsin and Emrys so hard and NO ONE CAN STOP ME. Please go check out the character art on Bracken's Instagram page because I am obsessed with every single one. Baaaasically I think this is one you won't want to miss!
