Free for All: Inside the Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today’s librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free, and the doors are open to all.
Indie Lens Pop-Up is a neighborhood initiative that connects communities through screenings of documentaries from PBS’s Independent Lens series. Since its launch in 2005, the program has hosted over 7,200 events nationwide, engaging around 430,000 people in conversations about important topics affecting local communities.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
This event is in partnership with WCMU Public Media and Celebration Cinema Mt. Pleasant.
